Which Contractor Platforms Connect to Claude or ChatGPT?
JobTread and Jobber are the two platforms I found with connectors they built themselves, as of October 2026. CompanyCam and Housecall Pro can reach an assistant through Zapier, and Buildertrend keeps its AI inside Buildertrend.
Here’s the side-by-side. Features and prices change fast in this corner of the market. Check each company’s site before you buy anything.
| Platform | Built-In AI (as of October 2026) | How It Connects to an Outside Assistant | What to Know |
|---|---|---|---|
| JobTread | AI Estimating, Daily Log Summaries, Receipt Scanning, Writing Assistant, Report Builder and more | Its own AI Connector (an MCP server) for Claude and ChatGPT, plus Zapier and an open API | JobTread says all features are included, and its AI page lists no separate connector fee |
| Buildertrend | AI Client Updates, Bill Capture, Submittals, Plans, and Selections from a supplier link | No official connector, Zapier app or public API that I could find | A third-party API review says custom work requires a partnership arrangement |
| CompanyCam | Photo-to-report tools, voice-built checklists, an Assistant in beta | A Zapier app and Zapier MCP, a public API, and an official MCP server in beta according to one guide | AI runs on credits tied to your plan |
| Jobber | Receptionist for calls and texts, Jobber Voice, AI quote drafts | Its own Claude connector, verified by Anthropic and added August 2026 | Receptionist is included with Plus and an add-on for Grow |
| Housecall Pro | CSR AI answers calls and books jobs; an AI Team on every plan | Zapier; no official MCP server found | Open API access comes only with the Max plan, $299 a month billed annually |
How Does an Outside Assistant Plug Into Job Software?
An outside assistant like Claude or ChatGPT reaches your job software one of three ways.
The easiest is a connector the software company built itself, usually on MCP. MCP is a common way to plug AI assistants into other apps. You sign in, approve what it can see, and then ask questions in plain words.
Zapier in the middle is the second way. Zapier MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants take actions in more than 9,000 apps. Zapier says it’s included in every Zapier plan, and each tool call uses two tasks from your plan’s quota.
The software’s API is the third way, and it usually means paying a developer. That’s the route when there’s no connector and Zapier doesn’t cover what you need.
JobTread: The One Ash & Pine Uses
Ash & Pine Construction’s JobTread is connected to Claude, so Ashley can ask out loud what’s on today’s list and get an answer. You can see how that fits with the rest of her setup in the Ash & Pine case study.
JobTread’s AI Connector runs through JobTread’s own MCP server, and its page names Claude and ChatGPT. JobTread says the connector can help draft budgets and pricing, build schedules, pull in selections, pull quantities from plans and surface issues.
OpenAI also lists a JobTread plugin, built by JobTread. It lets ChatGPT look up job status, review estimates and budgets against actual costs, and check schedules. OpenAI notes that availability depends on your plan and workspace settings.
On the Claude side, a setup guide from Carly says you add JobTread as a custom connector and authorize it. Carly sells its own automation tool, so read its advice with that in mind. Anthropic’s help pages put limits on custom connectors for free accounts, so I’d plan on a paid Claude plan.
The same guide points out that Claude acts when you ask, or on a timer you set. It can’t notice by itself that a job moved to complete.
JobTread’s own AI page says it plainly: “AI can produce results quickly, but it can also make mistakes.” Review anything before it changes a cost, a date or a promise to a client.
Buildertrend: Built-In AI, Few Outside Doors
Buildertrend’s AI lives inside Buildertrend. Its AI page leads with Client Updates, which turns daily job inputs into client summaries. It also lists Bill Capture, Page Naming for plan sets, Selections from a supplier URL and Submittals.
A September 29, 2026 release named AI Submittals, AI Bill Capture, AI Client Updates and AI Plans. In July 2026, Buildertrend bought BizJet AI to extend AI across preconstruction, project management and financials.
Getting Buildertrend data into Claude or ChatGPT is harder. Buildertrend’s marketplace lists QuickBooks, Xero, Gusto, Sage Intacct, HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive and Bluebeam, and no AI assistants or Zapier.
A third-party API review verified in October 2026 says there’s no public API and no official MCP server. If you run on Buildertrend, start with its own tools.
CompanyCam: From Job Photos to Reports
CompanyCam’s AI works on what crews already shoot. A September 2026 guide from Carly lists Summary, Daily Log and Progress Recap tools that turn a pile of job photos into a report. It also lists voice-built checklists and a CompanyCam Assistant in beta for Admins and Managers.
A September 2026 pricing review quotes CompanyCam’s FAQ saying AI comes with the Crew, Scale and Enterprise plans, metered in credits.
CompanyCam’s Zapier app has triggers like New Photo, Photo Tagged and Checklist Completed. Through Zapier’s MCP, an assistant like Claude can run CompanyCam actions such as Add Photo or Update Project Notepad. JobTread also lists CompanyCam as a built-in integration.
The September guide reports an official CompanyCam MCP server in beta for Claude and ChatGPT. I couldn’t find it in CompanyCam’s developer docs, so ask CompanyCam before you count on it.
Jobber and Housecall Pro: Built for Service Calls
Jobber built its own Claude connector, which Anthropic lists as verified and added in August 2026. The listing says it can get answers and take action across clients, quotes, jobs, invoices, payments and the schedule. You review and approve changes before they’re made.
Claude’s help center says directory connectors are available to all users.
Jobber’s built-in AI, per its 2025 announcements, includes Receptionist, which answers calls and texts. It’s included with Plus plans and an add-on for Grow.
Jobber Voice handles tasks by voice in the mobile app on all plans. AI quote automations draft quotes from new requests on Connect, Grow and Plus.
Housecall Pro’s pricing page lists CSR AI, which answers calls and books jobs, and AI team members on every plan.
Open API access comes only with the Max plan. As of October 2026, that’s $299 a month billed annually or $329 month to month. A third-party review found no official Housecall Pro MCP server, which leaves Zapier as the no-code route.
What Should You Try First?
Start inside the software you already pay for. If it has a built-in AI tool for the chore that hurts, use that first. It already has your data.
Then pick one question you ask every morning, like what’s on today’s list. See whether a connector can answer it. If the only route needs a developer, I’d wait until that question is worth paying to answer.
For the chores themselves, what a remodeler actually automated walks through five of them. To rank your own, try how to find the chore AI should take first.
