Who I Am
Porch Light Studio is Sarah Chamberlain’s studio in Durham, North Carolina. “I” and “me” here mean Porch Light Studio. You can reach me at [email protected].
What I Collect and Why
Notes You Send Me
When you use a form on this site (like “New friends” or a Studio sign-up), I get what you type: your name, phone or email, your business, your industry and your message. The forms are delivered to my inbox by Formspree, a form-processing service. I use what you send to reply, to look at your business before we talk, and to do the work you ask about.
Studio Membership
Payments are handled by Stripe. I never see or store your card number. Stripe shares your name, email, plan and payment status with me so I can open and close your access. Sign-in to the Studio runs through Cloudflare Access: you enter your email, get a one-time code, and Cloudflare keeps a record of sign-ins.
The Studio tool saves your brief in your own browser so you can pick up where you left off. It stays on your device unless you send it to me. The images themselves are made in your own ChatGPT account, under OpenAI’s terms and privacy policy. I don’t see them unless you share them.
Visits to the Site
I use Google Analytics to see which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from and what devices they use. It sets cookies to do that. I also use Metricool, the tool I run social media from, to count site visits alongside my social stats. Cloudflare hosts the site and keeps standard server and security logs, like IP addresses and the pages requested. The home page loads a handwriting font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when that font loads.
Client Work
If we work together, the research and plans for your business live in a private client workspace on this site, behind a sign-in that only you and I use. How I handle your business information during a project is covered in our agreement for that project.
What I Don’t Do
- I don’t sell your information or trade it with anyone.
- I don’t add you to a newsletter unless you ask.
- I don’t share what you send me with other clients.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Google Analytics and Metricool use cookies or similar browser storage to recognize a returning browser. If you’re a Studio member, Cloudflare sets a sign-in cookie so you stay signed in. The Studio tool uses your browser’s local storage to remember your brief. You can block or clear cookies and storage in your browser settings; the site still works, though you’ll have to sign in again. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
How Long I Keep Things
I keep notes and project files for as long as we’re talking or working together, and a reasonable while after in case you come back. Payment records are kept as long as tax rules require. Ask me and I’ll delete what I don’t have to keep.
Your Choices
Email [email protected] to see what I have about you, fix it, or delete it. I’ll answer within a couple of weeks, usually much sooner.
Kids
This site is for business owners. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
