Who These Terms Are With
These terms are between you and Porch Light Studio, Sarah Chamberlain’s studio in Durham, North Carolina (“I” and “me”). Client projects like the Teardown are covered by their own agreement; if that agreement and these terms disagree, the project agreement wins.
The Site
The guides and pages on this site are general information from my own experience. They aren’t legal, tax or financial advice. Tool prices and features change, so check them before you buy.
What a Studio Membership Includes
A membership gives you access to the Studio: the brief-to-packet tool, the eleven designers (and any new ones while you’re a member), and the Porch Light Studio GPT. The images are made in your own ChatGPT account, so you’ll need one, and OpenAI’s terms, usage policies and plan limits apply to what you make there.
Billing, Renewal and Canceling
- Monthly ($29) and Annual ($290) plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime from the link in your Stripe receipt. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
- Refunds: payments aren’t refunded for partial periods. If something went wrong, email me and I’ll make it right where I can.
- Price changes apply at your next renewal, and I’ll email you at least 30 days before.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Sales tax may be added where it applies.
Your Access Is Yours
A membership is for you and your own business. Please don’t share your sign-in, the GPT link or the designer files. I may end access, without a refund, if a membership is shared or used to break these terms.
What You Make
As far as I’m concerned, the briefs you write and the images you generate are yours to use. I don’t claim ownership of them.
Two things to know. First, in the United States, images made by AI generally can’t be copyrighted on their own; what a person adds by hand can be. Second, AI can produce something that looks like existing work, so check that a logo or design is clear to use (a trademark search, at least) before you build a brand on it. I can’t promise that generated work is unique or free of other people’s rights. If you’d like a mark finished by hand, my designers and I can do that as a separate project.
What Stays Mine
The designer personas, their files, the Studio tool, the packets’ structure and the content of this site belong to Porch Light Studio. Use them for your own business while you’re a member. Please don’t copy, resell or republish them.
The Porch Light™ and Porch Light Studio™ names and the Porch Light logo are my trademarks, and a U.S. trademark application for The Porch Light is pending. Please don’t use them in a way that suggests I made or endorsed something I didn’t.
Fair Use of the Studio
Don’t use the Studio to make anything illegal, hateful, deceptive or that infringes someone else’s rights, and follow OpenAI’s usage policies when you make images.
The Fine Print
The site and the Studio are provided as they are. AI makes mistakes, and I don’t promise the Studio will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, my total responsibility for any claim about the site or a membership is limited to what you paid me in the 12 months before the claim, and I’m not responsible for indirect or lost-profit damages.
These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of Durham County, North Carolina.
Changes and Questions
If these terms change, I’ll post the new version here with a new date, and email members about anything that affects billing. Questions go to [email protected].
